| The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
Just because you can do something doesn’t mean that you should pretty much sums up everything you need to know about the latest installment of the Mummy franchise. The movie fails on so many different levels that it is almost astonishing that they were able to ever get the movie made. Just because you can use lots of CGI doesn’t mean you should. Just because you can go to one action sequence after another and fail to set up any type of plot that holds up for more than a second or two doesn’t mean you should. Just because you can make another sequel to a series that is a remake of another series of sequels doesn’t mean you should.

| The X-Files: I want to Believe · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
I think you need to be a fan of the television series to truly appreciate and like the second film in the X-Files universe. The reason being is the film felt very much like a two part X-Files television episode and followed a lot of the things that made the TV series so successful in its day. They really don’t bother to introduce you to the characters or set up any type of back-story. You are supposed to know the characters already...

| The Dark Knight · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
As I have said comic book movies second installment always makes for the best of the series. You don’t have to introduce the character and set up the back-story that was all done in the first film, which allows for the freedom to turn in the most amazing action packed film that just blows you away. The Dark Knight takes that to new heights as we are introduced to a story that seems to capture who and what Batman is...

If you can say one thing about Pixar is that they seem to be able to tackle all genres and all storylines with such a level of ease and perfection that you can’t but help wish that every other studio took the care, time and love that Pixar seems to put into every film they make. Forget that the movies are animated and that they are mainly made to entertain younger audiences these movies reach across all genres and easily entertain and bring wonder to all ages and demographics.

| You Don't Mess with the Zohan · Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
I could come up with about a dozen puns on the title for this lackluster film like You Don't Mess with nearly two hours of time but I won't because the movie doesn't deserve that much effort nor time. And that pretty much sums up the movie as it really doesn't bother to put much time nor effort into actually being a really good movie instead coming up with an idea that could have been funny and hammering it into the ground.

| Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull · Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal skull is a hard movie to review because everything that was good and right about the movie could easily be countered with something that was wrong about it as well. The film is a lesson another movie it was seems like a long line of movies that just didn’t know when to say enough was enough. Dragging Indy out of the closet for one more go around and dusting off the moth balls on that famous fedora seems like a good idea until you sit down and realize a lot has happened and some of the magic has just disappeared over the years...

| Iron Man · Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
So where does Iron Man fall in this onslaught of comic based stories and characters? Iron Man would fall in the category of one of the better done and more exciting comic book movies to make its way to the big screen in the last decade or so. Up there with other greats like Spiderman 2 and Batman Begins the movie mixes plenty of action with a really good story...

| Forgetting Sarah Marshall · Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
I know I am not the only one who is quickly becoming tired of the whole Judd Apatow is a comedic genius trend. Sure his movies are funny, they are entertaining and they worth seeing but they are also starting to get a little stale as well. The stories change a little and we are introduced to new characters but the overall feel of his movies are the same, most of the jokes are the same and the characters are very eerily parallel to each other.

I have felt that Jackie Chan might be getting too old for these kind of movies for the last few years, now I am beginning to think that maybe Jet Li is also getting to old for these type of movies as well.

| Leatherheads · Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
Sometimes you watch a movie and you cannot for the life of you figure out what it’s missing even though you are acutely aware it is missing something. Whether it be more drama, a little more action or even a little more comedy the movie just seems to be nagingly missing something. Would the movie be better if it was funnier, would it be better if there were more action sequences, would a little more drama help..

| Vantage Point · Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
This is the kind of film that you are either going to really dig its style or that style is going to drive you mad and you are going to end up hating the movie. The film is called Vantage Point for a reason as it takes the vantage points of many different bystanders to one event and slowly unravels a story of what truly happened as no single person saw or understood everything that happened. So this can drive some movie goers to distraction as it takes a very long time for the plot to unfold... Now this isn't the first time this story telling technique has been used as Akira Kurisowa did in the early 1950's in his classic Rashomon but for many younger audiences this might be their first exposure to such a unique plot device

| There Will Be Blood · Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
In this hardscrabble town, where the main excitement centers around the holy roller church of charismatic preacher Eli Sunday, Plainview and H.W. make their lucky strike. But even as the well raises all of their fortunes, nothing will remain the same as conflicts escalate and every human value love, hope, community, belief, ambition and even the bond between father and son is imperiled by corruption, deception and the flow of oil.

| Rambo · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
The message this time around is live for something or die for nothing. Rambo has given up on the world and we are supposed to believe that one more journey into hell and a war torn Burma is going to give him faith in humanity once more. Again like I said it's a thinly veiled plot to try and give closure to a character that has been abandoned by his government and his country all the while having an excuse to give Rambo one more go around.

| Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
Sweeney Todd is one of those films that you will either absolutely love or hate there is no real middle ground. For me personally I absolutely loved the film, as it was a dark and twisted tale of vengeance, revenge and the insanity of one man driven to the extreme. Some of the complaints I hear about the movie from people who disliked it is that it is to bloody and gory or they just couldn't get into it being a musical. That's where the love it or hate it relationship comes in the violence and the gore is very fitting to the character of Sweeney Todd who has almost become barren and no longer has a care for the world.

| Cloverfield · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
All the complaints that I had for Blair Witch are also true for Cloverfield. From the shaky hand held camera that after ninety minutes makes you want to throw up in your popcorn bucket to the fact that the movie has no real closure or shows any context to outside events. The entire story is told by the hand held camera, there are no outside influences, there are no answers to any of the questions that may plague you and in the end they don’t bother to tie up any of the loose ends...

| Juno · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
Not since Kevin Smith first graced us with his witty, sometimes crude and verbally sparring dialogue in Clerks has there been a movie where the most important part of the film is the dialogue. Take out most of the crudeness but leave all the incredible wittiness and the verbal tongue lashings and you get Juno. There is definitely more story to Juno then there was to Clerks, more plot and even more drama...

| National Treasure: Book of Secrets · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
When you boil it all down and take every thing into account, the National Treasure films are fun little pieces of popcorn fluff and not much else. The films aren’t history lessons, they aren’t gripping dramas, they don’t have any real social implications but what they are is fun, exciting and just sheer joy to watch. As we come out of a season of movies where one political drama bombed after another as we are bombarded with wars on the nightly news the National Treasure films allow us some escapism that is so hard to find now days... |
| Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
Did somewhere along the line they forget what made both Alien and Predator so successful and such classics. When did they decide to take out everything that made those two series so iconic and good and just boil it down into a hohum kind of boring film. First with Aliens Vs Predator when for some inexplicable reason they decided to go with a PG-13 sequel to a series of six films all that had been rated R and felt dumbed down and neutered.

| Best and Worst of 2007 · New Movie News by Sirdizzy | |

Some of the Movies on the list include the amazing act and mouse film No Country for Old Men and some of them are just of the plain silly variety like Shoot 'Em Up. In the year of the threequel and the comedy (Judd Apatow made his mark this year) this years top ten is one of the most diverse I have ever made which is fitting as most of the movies this year were very diverse which is always a good thing. |
| Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
There might have been a time I was a fan of parodies and spoofs but that time is long gone. Parodies and spoofs are like the poor man's version of a movie. Not enough original idea's on their own to create their own movie all that is left to do is make fun of other films and genres and ussually poorly.

| Charlie Wilson's War · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
I wonder if the producers of the film got the irony of the last line of the film, because the film itself falls perfectly into that category. I'll paraphrase, we did something glorious but in the end we &*$%ed up the end game. The same could be said about Charlie Wilson's war for the most part the film is brilliant, funny and entertaining but they screw up the end game and the ending...

| I Am Legend · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |

| No Country for Old Men · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
Up until know there was no real film that blew me away and just cried best film of the year. There are several that were great like Grindhouse and Easter Promises but none like No Country for Old Men that were so amazingly good that you would want to use a blurb like best film of the year even if it was December and there was very little chance that you would see many more films from the year.

| The Golden Compass · New Movie Review by Sirdizzy | |
![]() |
This is one of those times that I wish I hadn’t read the book before seeing the movie. I am not one of those naysayers that read the books to then try and rip the movies apart as I understand that they are two different mediums and have to be accepted as such. For the most part the books are better and that is just an accepted fact as far as film adaptations go. There is so much more that you can do in a book that you can’t do on film...
