Since the inception of the Golden Globes in 1943 the winner of the two categories normally offered by the Globes for Best Picture have gone on to grab the Oscar as well in 44 of those 64 years. Between the years
1943-1950 the Globes only had one winner for best picture (except in 1948 when they would offer two best pictures). In
1951 they split the category into two parts and awarded a best picture for a drama and one for a musical/comedy. In 1955 they would even have a category for best Outdoor Drama a one year category. And between the years 1958-1962 they would even split the categry of best musical/comedy and offer awards to both of these genres of movies. But since 1963 the current setup of the Globes has stayed the same with no changes. So 20 movies have gone on to win the Oscar without first winning a Globe and they are:
