In Eclipse, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob -- knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

I have a unique prospective on the Twilight Saga and that is even though I am not its targeted demographic I have read all the books and seen all the movies. Up to this point I had liked the movies more than the books because the books are poorly written melodramatic pieces of literature trash but that may have changed with Eclipse as I am not sure which I despise more the book or the movie in this instance. I was literally bored out of my mind for the entire movie as nothing really happens and there is only one action sequence to break up the monotony of the film. All the things they had done in the previous movies to make the adaptations more bearable are gone from this movie. Gone is the pacing, gone is the addition of a little more action, gone is making these movies even half watchable and all that is left is a boring mess of melodrama, poorly written and cliqued characters and a mess of a movie.

As far the books go I have always considered Eclipse the throwaway book of the series. Throwaway because nothing really happens in the book, no plot evolvement, no forwarding the story and it is easily forgettable because nothing really happens in the book. If Stephanie Meyer was a better writer she could have condensed the entire book into three or four chapters and used those chapters to liven up either Breaking Dawn or New Moon which also suffer from the fact that she writes hundreds of pages of emotions and fleeting glances and then tries to stuff half a book of action into a single chapter or two to just end the book. An entire book of fleeting glances and longing and emotions doesn’t translate well to film though and by removing the pacing and the action that the previous movies had added all your left with is a snooze fest of a movie that will put you to sleep if your not the movies targeted demographic.

I blame a lot of the faults on the producers of the films as they rush these movies to the theatres as fast as humanly possible to try and cash in on the craze with little regard to making sure they have good movies. With Eclipse they should have taken their time to make the movie as it the throwaway book of the series but by rushing to get it to theatres only nine months after the last installment the film suffers. The first thing to go was obviously the budget for any action as the film has a singular fight scene that is rushed where it could have had several and been done a lot better so it didn’t feel so rushed. Eclipse sadly mirrors its literary counterpart very well and the targeted demographic for these movies will not even likely notices as for some odd reason fans of the books can not see the flaws in the book nor admit them when they do.

I am coming to believe Robert Pattinson is probably one of the worst actors in all of Hollywood right now. He shows no emotions and is almost like a cardboard cutout throughout most of the movie as he is pretty too look at but can’t or won’t act. I don’t see any of the longing or love that Meyer used thousands of pages of paper to portray in the books in a single moment he is on screen. He almost seems bored throughout almost as bored as I was watching the film. Taylor Lautner adds a little depth to the film again but the character kind of gets shoved into the background this time around which is a shame. I am also not sure of Dakota Fanning's inclusion in the movie has her character does nothing in the movie and only seems to be there because the actress wanted to be in the films. Eclipse is easily the worst of the film adaptations of the Twilight series so far and is one of the most boring movies made to date.
