Following the events of Daredevil, Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Garner), sai enthusiast and assassin for hire who dies at the end of the film, is revived and brought back to life by the Order of the Hand, a group of assassins who helped train her. Once brought back she becomes an assassin for hire and gains notoriety as on of the best around. Assigned by the Hand's current leader, Kirigi, to kill a man, Mark Miller (Goran Visnjic), and his 13-year-old daughter, Abby, Elektra soon befriends them and decides to stand up to her ninja peers. Elektra is especially motivated to do so when she discovers that Miller's grandfather was an ally of her former mentor, Stick (Terence Stamp). Together, they must take on Kirigi's lethal quartet (which includes Tengu and Typhoid) along the way Elektra will begin to question the choice’s she has made in life and wonder if their might be a different route for her.
The movie is more mystical and magical than all the other comic books movies that have been released. It was more like watching a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon than a Daredevil or a Hulk. This is not a bad thing; it is just different and ended up being a really good movie. They dealt with the villain’s super powers and Elektra’s ability to counter them flawlessly; you could not help but be enveloped by the rich characters and wish they had more time to develop them each individually. If the movie failed on one thing it was the story of Abby who just never really fir the rest of the movie nor did they explain how she was supposed to be this incredible mystical fighter. They would have been better off just dealing solely with Elektra not evolving all the subplots around her like they did.
Jennifer Garner has proven that she can be a leading actor and fits the whole women kicking butt trend that has been happening lately. She really is believable as action star and that probably comes from all the stunt and fight work she has to do for her TV show Alias. She even fir the bustier wearing Elektra’s image and was believable as the comic book assassin come to the big screen. Many might not like this film as it adds a new twist to the whole comic book genre, with more mysticism and magic but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and was more than pleased with how it turned out.
