Sometimes you have to wonder about the timing and release date of a movie, like why this masterpiece of a movie was buried all the way at the first of November. The movie is charming, it is cute, it is funny and most importantly of all it is a Christmas movie and deserves a release more appropriate like December. Has Lord of the Rings so taken over the viewers of December that they cannot accept a Christmas movie in December, I would hope not. Like I said the movie is funny but more so than just that the movie is outright hilarious at times. Yes, the movie carries a lot of the clichés you would expect in a movie dealing with Santa and Elves and goes for that all over warm feeling but that in no way distracts the movie from being one of the funnier comedies released in the last few years. The movie did not have to sink to any lows in taste, the movie did not have to resort to any gross out humor and yet the movie ended up being hilarious. I would hope that Hollywood would take its cue from this movie and realize a movie can be wholesome, charming and still extremely funny at the same time. This is the type of movie you want to take your kids to see so you can also see it. The movie is a refreshing and wonderful tribute to what comedy can be in movies and I am glad I saw it and that it was made.
