Michael Moore's latest documentary traces why the U.S. has become a target for hatred and terrorism. Michael Moore examines what happened to the United States after September 11; and how the Bush Administration used the tragic event to push its agenda. It's a documentary that will trace why the U.S. has become a target for hatred and terrorism. It will also depict alleged dealings between two generations of the Bush and Bin Laden clans that led to George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden becoming mortal enemies.
Because I was going into the movie sharing some of the same feelings about how Bush is slowly destroying America and debasing our society and government, I did not find it hard for me to love the movie and to be easily stirred by the emotions that Moore tries to get you to feel. That is what makes critiquing this movie so hard, it’s because I share a lot of the same feelings that makes it very hard for me to be an impartial judge to the films merits. Also with this being the first Moore film I have ever seen, and not being a big fan of Documentaries I have little to judge the film against.
The movie does do a good job of keeping it light and imparting many humorous moments amongst the more serious moments and I think this is an excellent skill that Moore has developed as he is able to keep an audience interested in a genre that is typically dry and morose. A film whether it be a fictional tale or a serious Documentary should always remember to entertain their audience as that as the most important part of a making a movie and Moore’s use of levity while dealing with serious allegations was perfectly done and timed and made it quite entertaining.
hile watching the film I could also see some of the reasons people do not like Moore as he clearly skews things his way and leaves out things on purpose. He does not lie nor tell any falsehoods he just fails to present all the truths and evidence at times. It is very skillful and I doubt that most people will catch it, but is still there and it casts a stain on his work. But for the most part I would encourage everyone to see the movie as it sheds great light onto the current political upheaval taking place everyday. The one thing I can say for the movie is that when it ended, the entire audience cheered and clapped and I am from the most pro bush and conservative state in the entire United States and if that isn’t say something to its power then nothing ever will.
