One of the biggest problems with the Highlander movies is continuity. This is the 4th movie in the series not to mention the TV series that did over a 100 episodes and through it all they have constantly changed the origins and storylines for the series. The movie strives to try and put all 3 previous movies and the TV series together as they bring back Duncan McCloud and Connor McCloud and also they are trying to pass the series on to Adrian Paul, as Lambert is getting a little too old to play the part. The movie makes an attempt at a stand-alone movie but too many references to past events in the series mars the effect. One of the strengths of the series as always been the high-octane action packed fight scenes and this movie does not fail to deliver them once again. The movie moves from one action packed scene to the next while at the same time doing good character development that has been part of the series from the beginning. The movie is again done quite well and those who love action and fight scenes won’t be let down. The one downfall though will be for fans of the series as the storyline has become to twisted over the years and the movie really does not pull it all back together as it may already be too late for that. They might have been better off just going with Paul and leaving Lambert out, but this seems to be his last hurrah anyways as they kind of write him out of the series from this point on. The movie of course ends with the big climatic sword fight like all the other Highlander films, most movie goers will be pleased while a few of the fans may be disappointed that the movie does not resolve all the faults in the plot through the years. Still a good movie to see if you are looking for an action packed thrill ride.
