To Charlie Croker the band of thieves he does his jobs with our like his family. John Bridger is like the father he never had and the other members of the group are like his brothers. John has been grooming Charlie to take over the band now that he has gotten old and he feels its time to retire. But John wants to do one last job before he retires and that is to hit a safe in Venice full of gold bullion. This is to be Charlie’s first time taking the lead of the operation and it appears to go off without a hitch tell Charlie is betrayed by Steve a member of his own group who wants all the gold for himself. When Steve murders John now all that is own the mind of Charlie is revenge and stealing back the gold. But Steve is paranoid and has enlisted the best security team to protect his investment, as well as a top of the line safe that is to hard for Charlie to crack without a little help. So he enlists the aid of Stella, John’s daughter who has been working for the police departments to crack safes. Now with his team assembled they must try and create the largest traffic jam in the history of L.A. and try and boost the gold before it is too late and is out of their reach. But nothing ever goes as planned so with the help of their top hacker Lyle and a demolitions expert they are about to pull off the most daring heist of their careers because this time its personal.

In a remake of the 1969 classic by the same name a motley group of actors including Mark Wahlberg, Edward Norton, Charlize Theron, and Seth Green try to bring the excitement of the first film back to life. It seems this is a tread in Hollywood as when they run out of ideas for new movies they always turn to remakes and sequels. And it also seems to be Wahlberg’s MO as this is the second remake for him of a 60’s classic. Bearing all that in mind they actually did a really good job of making the film entertaining and drawing you into a world of revenge and theft. They seemed to really like the high paced and action thrilled chase scenes as this movies comes complete with two of them. The movie does not have that much of a plot and barely scratches the surface of character development as all it is worried about is making an adrenaline filled action movie. This is what would be classified as a popcorn flick and I know we can all use a nice good popcorn film every now and then. You don’t need to think in this movie just sit back and enjoy all the action. While yes the movie is lacking in some places and could have used a little more drama instead of action the movie still does a really good job at entertaining you and keeping you involved in the movie. Go see it for the action and the adventure but do not go expecting anything deep, just a well done popcorn movie that should please.
