Joe Dirt is a radio station janitor in Los Angeles with a cheesy mullet hairdo straight out of the '70s that is actually a wig from his childhood when he a piece of his skull ended up missing. Living in the building's boiler room, lightning strikes one day when he finds himself on the air with "tell-it-like-it-is" radio personality Zander Kelly. He begins telling what is suppose to be the fascinating tale of his life, from the moment when he was abandoned by his trailer trash parents at the Grand Canyon when he was eight, up until the present day, circa twenty years later working as a janitor for a radio station. Passed along from one wacky foster family to the next as a child, Joe has spent his adult years desperately searching for the whereabouts of his parents, who have seemingly vanished into thin air. Amidst it all, he lost touch with the one person who ever really cared about him, Brandy, a fetching young woman who is about to marry the oily Robby by default but of course is still in love with loveable loser Joe. He recounts his four day journey to din his parents and also to try and win back the girl he loves on air for the world to hear filled with one crude humor joke after another.
Ever since Chris Farley’s death David Spade has been trying to make up for it by playing the loveable loser who is short a few brain cells. The only problem is that Spade cannot pull it off and when he tries the movie descends into one boring and stupid scene after another. Spade is not funny on his own which he proves in this movie. He was better fitted to play Farley’s sidekick and should never be allowed to have a movie of his own. I doubt that Spade will ever find another comedic actor as funny as Farley to team up with ever again which is a shame since it seems that Spade will attempt to make an ass out of himself with movies that are not funny instead of hanging up his hat and save us the pain of seeing such utter garbage that should never be allowed to be made. This was one of the most boring movies I have seen in a long time the story is weak and does nothing to entice the audience into it. Its overly predictable and the level of stupidity you would have to stoop to, to even laugh is appalling. I am one that wishes that Hollywood would move on from these type of movies because they are not funny and are too way over the top. Moderation is the key when making a gross out humor movie and this movie has no moderation instead seeming to enjoy rolling around in their own crap that they have spewed at the audience. Don't see it, don't rent it, don't waste your time.
