Members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit are sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team -- Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar -- find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they're joined by the mysterious Aisha, a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.
I don’t know how to feel about the Losers. I liked the film but also it was very cheesy and over the top and just way too silly at times. I definitely didn’t laugh at hard at the silly jokes as the audience I saw the film with did. I think certain movies need to be seen in the right frame of mind and I went and saw the Losers after a long day of work and very tired which is definitely not the right frame of mind for an over the top somewhat silly humorous action film. So I liked the Losers and found it fun but I didn’t like it as much as others might and heck I might even like it more the second time around when I am actually in the right frame of mind for such a silly action flick.
I have actually read an analogy comparing the Losers to the A-Team with a hot chick and funny enough the analogy is nearly spot on. The Losers has that same feel of the A-team about an ex military group out doing random missions in an effort to gain revenge for what the government did against them with the same cheesy 80’s kind of humor mixed in. And really the only big difference is that now you got a hot chick to stare at instead of Mr. T and his gold chains.
I got the feeling from the movie that they want to do a whole line of these kinds of films as it ended with that “hey we are ending this movie with an ending that will lead to a sequel sequence” that is way too transparent. I also garnered that the film was based on a comic book even though I didn’t know that going into the film as it has that comic book feel to it from the action, to the characters to the humor of everything. And this instance after a quick consultation of google the film is based on a comic of the same name and might actually be worth the read to just get a better understanding of the characters. The Losers is definitely a film that would benefit being more familiar with the source material before seeing it but I am not sure how many people have ever read the comic or even knew it existed before seeing the movie.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is Hannibal, Chris Evans is Murdoch and Idris Elba is Baracus well close enough. I do think the writers of the comic must have been watching way too much A-Team reruns when they were making the comic because even the characters and not just the plot resemble the characters from the A-Team. This leads to wonder on how well the remake movie of the A-team coming in a month or so will mirror the Losers. Again I am not sure how I feel about the Losers for the most part I liked it but it will warrant a second viewing in a different frame of mind to see if its worth watching any of the sequels they would like to make if they actually let them make any sequels to the film.
