Set in the year 2054 were an experimental crime fighting program uses pre-cog’s (short for precognitive) to predict crime in the nations capital of Washington D.C. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton chief of the pre-crime division where he helps stop murder before it can happed using the pre-cogs physic ability to see the future. Anderton though is struggling through emotional turmoil though as he laments the loss of his own son only months before pre-crime came into place. Driven by the job so much that his wife leaves him. When a investigator from the Attorney’s general arrives to investigate the effectiveness of pre-crime before it goes national all hell breaks loose for Anderton. Anderton spurred by the investigation begins to have doubts that the system is perfect and to try and investigate it himself. In the middle of his investigation he all of sudden is predicted to kill a man that he has never even heard of. Now on the lam from the authorities he once led he must find the answers to pre-crime and discover if he has been set up or if he really is a murderer.

The movie is somewhat reminiscent of Spielberg’s thriller last summer A.I. Both are set in the future and take on a fantastic view of events there, but Minority Reports has a lot of things A.I. was missing, as it is less dark and definitely more action packed. Minority report is a suspense filled roller coaster ride and the movie keeps you guessing to all its little secrets in one action packed scene after another. Colin Farrell who plays the detective that hunts Cruise does a masterful job counteraction Cruise’s performance. The one cool and calm and sure of himself the other slightly frenzied and grief torn. Cruise does a very good job at humanizing his character and making you feel for him and his pain and torment. The movie takes one plot twist after another that keeps you guessing as to what will happen next. The movie is definitely worth the see if you want to see an action packed thriller. Thing though was a little too cookie cutter Hollywood style as I think the movie might have been better off with some type of surprise ending rather than you run of the mill ending. All in all a great movie that makes you think and draws you in with a suspense ride that only Spielberg could deliver.
