There is a new serial killer in town and he never kills the same way twice. He always sends a note to the FBI before his latest crime that is full of cryptic messages that always seem to make sense after the crime has been committed but never before. He has just sent his latest letter to the FBI and it seems this time he is targeting the Miss USA pageant in San Antonio, Texas. Agent Gracie Hart is very much a tomboy and always has been. She is rough around the edges and quite brutal at times. To her the FBI is her life in so much that she has no time for anything else including the lady like events like wearing make-up and going on dates. But she is the FBI’s only hope as she is the only woman agent that is young enough to possibly pull off being in the Miss USA pageant as an undercover agent. So with the permission of the pageant directors they get permission to enter Gracie in the contest as the winner from New Jersey. But first she is going to need a makeover and to help her there they turn to an old pageant veteran Victor who was turned away a few years earlier because of a problem with one of his girls. So now its up to Victor to try and turn the train wreck that is Gracie into a beauty queen, but its not going to be that easy as Gracie is not going to go easy as she falls for a fellow FBI agent and resists being turned into a Lady.

Some movies are just gems and seem to have a lot of chemistry that makes them great. This is one of those movies as it has to be one of the funniest movies released in years. It is chock full of hilarity and gags that will make you laugh though out. And yes, while the script is not that original and has been done before with the tom boy turned beauty queen as anyone can see that the character is not as ugly as she needs to be, they did a magnificent job of taking an old script like this and making it into a very funny movie. Sandra Bullock just shines through out the movie as she pulls of the more complexity of her part with pizzazz and wonder. She is great as the tough tomboy, she is hilarious as the FBI agent that refuses to be a beauty queen, she is sentimental as the girl who always just wanted to be noticed, and she is funny as the beauty queen emerges. Michael Caine who plays the old sarcastic pageant director is just as funny as his and Sandra’s chemistry is just superb as they seem to feed off each others energy. Benjamin Bratt also puts in a good performance as Gracie’s partner in crime and as also as he love interest. It just seemed that all the actors were having fun on the movie and so will you. This movie is funny, charming, ingenious, and well worth the viewing. Highly recommended for anyone who could use a good laugh.
