Bo Laramie’s life seems to be going really good and he seems to have it all. He is a rising action superstar in Hollywood, his wife and him seem to have the perfect marriage along with their son. All in life is goof and happy and couldn't be better. But his newfound fame comes with a price. He has become the target of a team of four paparazzi bent on making Bo and his family fodder for the tabloids. The paparazzi stalk Bo everywhere. He accepts the veritable invasion of his life… until photos of his wife, Abby, and his son, Zach, begin appearing on covers of a sleazy tabloid called Paparazzi. All efforts to convince the photographers to spare his family are ignored, and when Bo has a physical altercation with one "superstar" paparazzo, Rex, the actor is sentenced to anger-management therapy, while Rex walks away unpunished. The paparazzi become increasingly relentless, ruthless even criminal to get that one shot that might make them a fortune. And the more Bo fights back at them the more intent they are on not leaving him alone. One night they trap Bo and his family in a high-speed chase that ends in a terrible accident, sending Abby into intensive care and six-year-old Zach into a coma. When the police can't make a case against the photographers, Bo seeks vengeance on his own.
The movie has stirred up a little bit of controversy amongst those that take pictures as paparazzi as the movie sheds a dark light on their professions. And rightfully so, the intrusion of these camera wielding glorified stalkers is over the top and I know that if I were a famous actor I would most likely be one of the actors that hit one of these paparazzi for never relenting. Paparazzi respect nothing of a personal nature and are no more than parasites or vultures feeding off the famous. And the movie does a wonderful job at showing them for what they are, it cuts to the bone and most people won’t like looking into that mirror that portrays them negatively but also honestly. Since paparazzi were responsible for the death of Princess Diana nearly every country in the world except the U.S. has enacted laws against them because of the evidence that they are invading privacy and endangering the lives of those they are taking pictures of. In fact the crash scene in the movie is very similar to how Diana was killed. I am not sure if the movie was meaning to take such pot shots at the paparazzi world but either way they did an incredible job of drawing you into a movie where you are basically cheering for a guy to wrong another, justifiably so. The movie does fuel itself with controversy and shock value but you still can’t help but be drawn into something that could very well happen and that is very realistically possible. If you’re a paparazzi you will probably hate the movie but for the rest of us the movie was quite good and entertaining.
