The cast of Star Trek the Next Generation return for the 10th installment in their movie enterprise. Captain Picard and his crew our intergalactic explorers and military might for the Federation. The crew explores the galaxy and charters unknown regions and enforces the laws of their Federation. At the beginning of the movie Commander Riker and Commander Letroy finally end their long courtship and our finally married. As Captain Picard takes them to their honeymoon they are asked by the Federation to stop in Romulan space and possibly negotiate a treaty for peace with the Romulans. But when they arrive Picard is faced with his own clone that has taken over control of the Romulan Senate and is asking for peace with the Federation. But things seem fishy once they discover that the Romulan ship is actually a weapon that is capable of destroying an entire ship or even planet. Now Captain Picard is torn as while the same blood flows in his veins as that of his clone he does not understand how he would ever commit such heinous crimes. So now Picard is faced with his own question of morality while they try and stop the Romulans.
Somewhere along the way Star Trek has lost its connection with the regular population and has become movies just for its die-hard fans. Now while the movie was quite action packed and enjoyable at times the movies tendency to gear jokes and scenes towards its fans left me confused and disappointed. I have seen all ten star trek movies but have never seen any of their TV shows why should I be left in the dark in one of their movies is beyond me. I enjoyed Patrick Stewart’s performance once again as he makes a great captain and is a great actor. But characters like Data our lost on me as his performance seemed very dry and more for just the fans of the series. If you are not a too familiar with the Star Trek series you will find yourself not understanding what is going on times while the die-hards will be laughing. This may make the movie a little unpleasant for you. I still enjoyed the movie, as it is quite action packed and does tend to keep you riveted at times when it remembers to not just cater for a small group of people. The ending was a little twisted and convoluted though as it appears that they are trying end the series at least for a little while. I would recommend the movie, but do not go with high expectations
