A team of student archaeologists on a dig at a medieval site in France are about to make the most historical journey that they could ever imagine. Instead of just unearthing years of history they are about to become history themselves. When Professor Johnston, their team leader, disappears, they uncover something that simply should not be possible and that is his hand writing on a document from the 14th century pleading for help. This leads his son Chris to want to have many questions answered about his father and what has happened to him. And it seems the person with all the answers is the head of the technology company that has been funding their dig. It appears while trying to find away to transfer objects over distances like a fax they accidentally happened onto time travel. But the problem is the time travel is seriously flawed. This is why the Professor went back into time to try and fix the problem but also while he was back there something went terribly wrong and he turned up missing. Now, the company wants to send Chris and some of his friends back to 14th century feudal France to try and rescue his father and to see if they can fix what is wrong with the whole scheme to begin with. But this will prove to be a perilous journey beyond their wildest dreams. Now, to find their missing professor and avoid a potentially catastrophic event, they must change history before they become history.

This is the type of movie you need to check your brain at the door and you will find the movie quite enjoyable and a nice excuse to spend a wintery day watching a movie. The movie doesn’t do anything special, the plot isn’t that great, the acting isn’t superb but the movie is still quite enjoyable and well worth the viewing. The movie is based on the book by Michael Crichton who has a fanciful imagination for the past and the movie does a marvelous job of portraying the 14th Century which is not what many of the archaeologists in the movie thought it would be like. Sometimes fanciful imaginations are much better than the real thing and they quickly learn this while at the same time enthralling the audience with their story. This movie clearly falls in the category of being a popcorn movie and there is nothing wrong with a good popcorn movie. The movie really does nothing to inspire us like Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park did but that does not mean the movie is not fun to watch. Say what you want about these types of movies from all the flawed plot lines, to the acting by people like Paul Walker who appear to only be able to do popcorn flicks but that does not mean the movie was not enjoyable and fun to watch. Go to be entertained and do not expect too much.
