A war has been raging for the better part of the last six hundred years. This is a war that most humans have no idea is occurring as it occurs in the underworld and is being fought by creatures of the night and myth. The war or the blood feud is between vampires and lichens (werewolves) and is all consuming for some. These few call themselves the death dealers and they are vampires with the sole purpose of hunting down werewolves and killing them all. One of the better dealers is Selene who has a personal grudge against the lichens and enjoys her job very much of killing them. But when something goes wrong in the subways and the lichens open fire on her and her crew in broad view of the public she has to wonder what they were after. For it seems the lichens have a new target and that is a human named Michael who seems in all purposes totally normal. So now Selene finds herself on the trail of Michael to see why he is so important to the lichens and to foil any plan they might have for him. But alone the way she falls fowl of political intrigue of her own people and leaders as well as she starts to develop feelings for Michael. So now Selene must unlock the secrets of the past and find out why the blood feud began all the while trying to save the life of someone that has become something she has hated her entire life.

Wow, simply wow. Not being a fan of horror films, which is what movies about werewolves and vampires usually are, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to see this movie done more as an action and adventure movie than your horror movie. The thing about horror movies is that you are suppose to be scared of the vampires and werewolves but this movie lets you fall in love with not only them but their species as well. It’s been so long since someone has done a great movie about werewolves that I didn’t even mind that they had to share the screen with your overly done vampires. The transformation of the lichens into their werewolf selves is simply are dropping amazing and gave me chills. I was so completely entranced by this movie that it makes me want to rent every movie done about werewolves in the history of Hollywood. The werewolf is the more romantic character of the two as they are still partly human and it was great the way the movie ended making you feel for the werewolves. This has to be easily my favorite movie I have seen all year as the action was completely amazing and the drama drew me into the world of night and the underworld of the two outcast species’. The movie is one action packed scene after another as the movie leads you on a ride that does not fail to meet all expectations in an all revealing final battle between lichens and vampires. Yes, the movie has a gothic feel to it but it also simply one of the more amazing and entertaining action movies in the last couple years.
