At the prestigious Orson Welles Film School at Alpine University, students are preparing their submissions for the Hitchcock Award, an honor that virtually guarantees the winner a Hollywood career as a director. Amy Mayfield is the daughter of a famous documentary director, and she has decided that she wants to make a different kind of film that being of a thriller in which college students are killed in ways resembling various urban legends. We have all heard these urban legends and the strange ways some people have been killed from the legend of someone waking up in a bathtub full of ice missing their kidneys to other even more strange and dangerous legends. Despite the backstabbing and jealousy of her fellow students, Amy begins to plan and cast her movie, with help from a pair of special effects geeks and a suave European cinematographer. As filming progresses, however, a series of unusual deaths occur which the police dismiss as accidents. These strange events make the cast and crew wonder whether someone is playing with them or maybe is trying to eliminate the competition for the award. But the game is getting dangerous, as Amy must struggle to learn the truth or else risk becoming another "accident" herself all the while trying to finish her film.
The movie is your typical thrasher movie with attempts at suspense and a who done it theme as it tries to keep you guessing what is going to happen and who is responsible for all the deaths. It even has your typical thriller and horror twist at the end to try and stun and shock the audience. But all this did in reality was to confuse them as the ending makes absolutely no sense and no matter how much you ponders its ending there is no way of actually unraveling the mess that becomes this movie. The movie does not add anything to a genre that is already getting beat to death, nor does it do anything to break out of the shell of predictability and tiresome story lines that others have done better. It seems like the producers were just so happy to be making a movie that they forgot to include a decent plot, believable characters and even to bother really trying to make a decent movie. While the premise is interesting as we have all heard of these urban legends and they can be quite intriguing that’s all this movie had was a premise as it never really did anything to try and expound on the urban legends as was just happy trying to sell them as a movie. The legends are more fun to read about that to try and wade through this film of nearly two hours of garbage that should have never been made. Not worth the viewing and you will feel dumber after seeing it.
