A "cure" for mutancy threatens to alter the course of history. For the first time, mutants have a choice: retain their uniqueness, though it isolates and alienates them, or give up their powers and become human. The opposing viewpoints of mutant leaders Charles Xavier, who preaches tolerance, and Magneto, who believes in the survival of the fittest, are put to the ultimate test--triggering the war to end all wars.

Franchises all hit their bumps and eventually you reach a point where the question is asked if they should continue doing the movies. Because of many of the things that happened in the third installment of X-men I am know asking that question. Where do you go from here you have made three very good and very exciting films that have been loved for the most part but you seem to be reaching an impasse where actors are tired of the series or characters are no longer working and are forced to write off some of the elements of the comics that you can’t make work on the big screen. It happens even to the best franchises, Star Wars by Return of the Jedi was loosing steam and never got it back for the prequels, Lord of the Rings fans were ready for an ending and grew angry when Return of the King kept giving them one after another. So where do we go from here, do we continue to make the movies because the fans still want them and will pay to see them or does someone sit down and decide that they should continue to make the movies because somewhere there is still a love and a want to make the movies. If it’s the first reason there is a fourth installment there shouldn’t be and they should stop with three, if it’s the later reason I am on board for one more ride with the X-men.

I love that they finally veered away from Wolverine in the latest installment and we got to see more of the characters that make the comics so vast and so good. Everyone has a favorite X-men and they should get that chance to see that particular X-men come alive on the big screen. My favorite got a little screen time this time around, Colossus even if it wasn’t much and hopefully we will still get to see Gambit. With so many new characters we are bound to see a few departures and I am ok with that, if Halle Berry thinks she’s too big to be an X-men let here walk away, the movies will survive because they are so vast. Beast, Archangel, Colossus. Juggernaut, and a slew of new faces made the movie fun and we got to see new powers, new abilities and new X-men spread their wings which was great for me. The movie was action packed, it was fun, and it was really quite enjoyable.

I am sure there will be some who question how they handled a few elements of the plot as they seemed to continue to veer away from the comics and in no way told the Phoenix Saga as it should be told. My problem was they left too many things open like they were unsure if this was the last movie or if they still had one or two more in them. I don’t like movies that are unsure of themselves, it leaves too many plot holes to fix in the sequel and if they do a fourth X-men there will have to spend a good amount of time fixing the holes of the third installment. Make sure you stay for the trailers as they do hint they would like to make a fourth movie even if during the course of the movie they seem to hint they would like to be done as well.

I have always like the casting of X-men and by now we are all very familiar and comfortable with the actors and the characters. Halle Berry is storm, Hugh Jackman who does his best acting of the series in X-men 3 is Wolverine, Famke Janssen is Jean Grey, Ian McKellen is Magneto and Patrick Stewart is Charles Xavier. So we know the cast, we like the cast, we no longer need to be introduced to their characters so right from the get go we can get right into the story and this always makes a movie fun and enjoyable. The movie is a great roller coaster ride of action and to excitement and if I were to rate the X-men movies it would go two, three and then one. So that’s not to bad not as good as the sequel but better than the first and reason enough to want to and to go see the third one which you most likely already will have done by the time you read this.
